The children have enjoyed learning about the story of Guy Fawkes and how this is the reason we celebrate with fireworks on the 5th November! They have written about the historical events that took place and have made firework pictures using chalk on black sugar paper. We have also been learning about how to keep safe over the weekend as fireworks can be very dangerous. The children have acted out how to be safe in our outdoor learning environment by building bonfires.

If you are celebrating Guy Fawkes Night this week perhaps you could create and label some art with your child. At school the children often use speech bubbles to write about their work.

Our Christmas play rehearsals are well underway and we would be very grateful if you could continue to practise learning the words with your children at home.

We have learnt some new sounds this week in phonics and we will be sending words home for you to practise reading and blending with your children; our new sounds this week are: ay, ou, ie and ea.
