A Busy Week in Year One

By 9th February 2018Year 1

We have been looking at some new opportunities for writing which is related to the children’s interests and ideas. We have also been learning about traditions such as Shrove Tuesday and Chinese New Year.  As it is National Storytelling Week the children have been learning about traditional tales such as ‘The Gingerbread Man and The Runaway Pancake. In Art, the children have been re-creating works in the style of Van Gogh and these are now on display throughout the school.

At home task: Find out what your child is interested in and build up their descriptive language.

This week in Maths we have looked at how to make a number out of tens and ones by investigating numbers up to 50. We have been sorting numbers into smallest and largest and have been using ‘true’ and ‘false’ to answer questions about number.

At home task: Order or write in words, numbers up to fifty.
