By Reception, Year 1, Year 2 No Comments

Dear Parents / Carers,

We are taking part in eDF Energy’s Waste Week 2018, 5th-9th March. The theme this year is food waste and food packaging.
Many activities are planned over the course of the week and we need your help – please start sending in any clean, safe, empty food and drink packaging to your class. We will be sorting these into plastic, metal, card/paper and glass on Monday 5th March.

Welcome Back From Year 2

By Year 2 No Comments

Welcome back! We hope you all had a wonderful half term. We have already had a fun-packed week with two Olympic Athletes spending the day with us on Tuesday which the children absolutely loved. They were in awe of these “celebrities” as they listened to their stories during the morning assembly and they were lucky enough to all be given a class PE lesson, led by the athletes. The children threw themselves into the challenge and really enjoyed their day. Thank you to Miss Blancke for organising it!

Olympic Athletes Visit!

By Reception, Year 1, Year 2 No Comments

On Tuesday we had two Olympic Athletes visit our school- Richard Buck and Marylin Okoro. The children got to meet the athletes in assembly and heard all about their lives, their sport and their achievements. We even got to see their medals!

Every class had a PE lesson with the athletes in which they completed a challenging obstacle course and fast paced relay races! The children all enjoyed the day, describing it as “inspiring”, “exciting” and “challenging”.

Online Safety Webinar

By Reception, Year 1, Year 2 No Comments

In a world where technology is used continuously and where children are exposed to the internet on a regular basis in many different forms, it is so important to ensure you keep your children safe when online.  We have attached a webinar produced by Ofsted for parents that gives advice on how to keep your children safe online. Please also remember to book a place on the next Tricky Topics Workshop on Friday 23 March at 1.30pm where the focus will be ‘Online Safety’.

Exciting Visitors Coming to Joydens Wood!

By Reception, Year 1, Year 2 No Comments

We are extremely lucky to have two Olympic athletes visiting our school.

During the morning of Tuesday 20 February, they will meet the children and lead an assembly where they will share their achievements and life experiences. They will talk about how they came to be athletes, what their training regime is like, how it felt to compete and win Olympic medals and what the children can do to follow their own sporting dreams! The rest of the day will involve each class having an exclusive PE lesson taught by the athletes. We are inviting all children to wear sportswear on this special day. This does not have to be the school PE kit.

We hope the children will really enjoy this exciting experience!
