The children have continued to settle well and are now becoming more confident and independent with moving between our different rooms and garden. We have seen lots of lovely child initiated learning happening such as cookbooks being created for our role play house, colour mixing being explored in the water trays, and sand timers being used to time how long it will take to build the tallest tower!
We have also started our phonics lessons and by the end of this week will have introduced the sounds m, s, a, d and t. The children are working on recognising and pronouncing the sounds that each letter makes, and are trying hard to form the letters correctly.
If you would like to support the teaching of phonics at home, there is an app on Itunes called ‘Teach your Monster to Read’ which is currently free and is a great interactive way to practise that sound knowledge!
