Trying to teach our children the importance of healthy eating and nutrition is a constant nightmare for many parents.
Like it or not Christmas is almost upon us (WE LOVE CHRISTMAS!) and we have a lot to organise at our school.
We have our first PTA meeting of this term on Friday 3rd November at 1.15pm and hope that lots of you can make it. Our community’s support during our busiest times is invaluable so please give your time to us generously. We appreciate that all our families have very busy lives, inside and outside of the school day but even 20mins helps us tremendously. GRANDPARENTS are a wonderful support to our school and our ‘Friends of Joydens Wood’ is made up of grandparents, current parents, past parents and our staff, so ALL are welcome. This term with our newly appointed class reps (to be announced early November) we hope that this will aid the communication between our parents.
This term will be our Christmas Market debut. This wonderful event will be child led and based around our children’s very own festive creations. The children will design, create and sell their own produce along with running their own class stalls, so parental support from Wednesday 13th – Friday 15th December is vital! During the afternoon of Thursday 14th December and the morning of Friday 15th December our parents will be heavily relied on to help us set up the Christmas Market ready for us opening the doors at 2.30pm. Freshly baked mince pies will be sold (with a free glass of mulled wine for grown ups), Santa will be making an appearance throughout the market, Christmas raffle tickets will be on sale with excellent prizes on offer and our very own choir will be performing throughout the event. This is going to be a wonderful event for our school community and will help us to raise LOTS of money for our school.
Our annual Christmas Shopping Day will happen again this year on Wednesday 6th December, however with 100s of presents to wrap we need volunteers to come in from Thursday 30th November – Tuesday 5th December to support the preparation and organisation of this event. If you are unable to give your time to wrap but could help with the organisation of the event on 6th December please let us know.
Like all big events these things take a lot of planning and preparation so please try to attend as many PTA meetings or share your ideas with your class reps!
Thank you in advance for all your support
Miss Hately
