Storytelling Week in Year 2

By 9th February 2018Year 2

Last Friday, Year 2 children blew us away with their fantastic outfits ready for their Royal Banquet. The little Kings and Queens embraced their roles extremely well and thoroughly enjoyed being served their banquet by their class grown-ups. We were so impressed with how much effort the children had gone to with their outfits and with the generous amount of donations from the parents – thank you!

This week has been National Storytelling week and Joydens Wood Infants have embraced it wholly. On Monday the children were read the story of the Gingerbread Man in assembly and we organised drama, role play and story writing activities based on this. The children discussed the repetitive language and then we looked at similar stories that follow patterns like this. The children had the opportunity to think of their own story of a run-away food item which they found really fun! We have also decorated fairy-tale themed cakes for this week’s class tea.

We have had such a jam-packed half term and the children have definitely earned their break. We hope all of our Year 2 families enjoy the week off and we look forward to seeing you all again, refreshed, in a week!

P.S. Please remember to check the Mathletics tasks set this week! Thanks!
