Range of Provision: |
Areas of Strength
Speech, Language and Communication provision We screen our Reception children for Speech and Language needs as required. We have a number of support staff who are highly trained and experienced in speech and language provision. As required, we receive training in meeting the specific needs of children with speech and language difficulties from a highly qualified and experienced speech and language therapist. Specialist facilities and equipment to support SEND Disabled toilet Wheelchair access to the whole site, buildings all at ground level Range of sensory resources Input from External Agencies We have access to specialist teachers from the local authority through the LIFT process We have access to professionals through the Early Help team Breakfast and After School Provision There is breakfast and after school provision available at the Hayden Sports ground. As of July 2017 9.4% of children have an additional need. (This will be updated each term) |
Inclusion: |
We are an inclusive school. Children have access to provision depending on their need. We differentiate work as appropriate to enable all children to progress at their level and support the SEND and More Able children as necessary.
All children are included in all activities and on school visits. Risk assessments for individuals are carried out as required. Pupil Premium Allowance This is allocated on an individual basis depending on eligibility and individual need. The funding may be used for interventions, uniform, attendance at clubs, resources and equipment as necessary. |
Parental Support/Involvement/Contact: |
The Inclusion Leader works closely with the teachers and parents of children with SEND. Regular meetings are held for parents where personalised plans are updated, provision and progress is discussed and interventions arranged.
Contact books are used where necessary for children whose needs require this. All children have reading contact books Newsletters are sent home weekly. We have an open door policy so parents can meet with teachers after school to discuss any concerns they may have. Multi-agency support including Team around the Family and Early Help. Parent’s evenings are held 3 times a year and a report given to the parents in Term 6. Texts are sent regularly for communication and reminders. Parents are invited into each class each term to meet the teacher and ask questions about the curriculum. |
Transition Arrangements: |
We have a good relationship with the pre-school providers who send their children to or school. There is a structured transition programme in place for children who attend pre-school and are due to start in Reception. We have excellent arrangements for transition to the junior school where structured transition programmes are used and children are treated individually depending on their needs. There are a number of individual strategies and interventions in place for children who may need additional support transitioning to the next stage of education.
This includes: additional visits to the setting, additional visits to the junior school and the infant school by the children, a small group transition group who undertake activities at the junior school, transition books, additional parents meetings during the summer term, action plans for transition. |
